Every so often, a bizarre link or piece of text surfaces that, when sent via iOS or macOS, will cause noticeable issues to the recipient’s device. Today, the latest form of this has emerged in what’s being referred to as “chaiOS.” It’s a basic GitHub link on the surface, but it crashes Messages on both macOS and iOS… The issue was first discovered by Twitter user Abraham Masri, who says the link has a host of effects on macOS and iOS, including freezing, resprings, battery issues, and more....

At an event in San Jose today, Qualcomm Technologies company, partnered with T-Mobile, demonstrated their latest step in the evolution of LTE. T-Mobile announced that LTE Advanced, which is the newest generation, and supported by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Gigabit LTE modems, is now live in 430 markets. According to T-Mobile, with LTE Advanced, you can expect double your former download speeds. On top of that, using a combination of carrier aggregation, 4X4 MIMO, and 256 QAM, you could see speeds double again....

Qualcomm today reported its earnings for the second fiscal quarter of 2019, revealing some new details about its surprise settlement with Apple. According to Qualcomm, it will record revenue of between $4.5 billion and $4.7 billion as part of the deal. Qualcomm explains that it is continuing to asses the accounting impacts of its deal with Apple, but has included an additional estimated revenue of $4.5 billion to $4.7 billion in its guidance for next quarter....

Though it’s been quite a while since Qualcomm Snapdragon announced on launching a successor, the news is confirmed- Qualcomm will release the successor of Snapdragon 845 and that also with many new features. The next-gen chip is said to be the powerhouse for the upcoming 2019 smartphones and now we also have details on the upcoming expected features of the Qualcomm 8150/855. The ‘sm8150’, as it’s known internally, once released will be known as the Snapdragon 8150 or Snapdragon 855....

Despite the upbeat report, Qualcomm shares traded down by 5% in late trading. CEO Cristiano Amon said the results “reflect the strong demand for our products and technologies, with QCT revenues exceeding those of any fabless semiconductor company,” referring to the company’s division that sells chipsets. Added Amon, “We are at the beginning of one of the largest opportunities in our history, with our addressable market expanding by more than seven times to approximately $700 billion in the next decade....

VOID Interactive did come up with an intense, tactical, multiplayer & first-person shooter video game called ‘Ready or Not‘ in 2021 that includes a modern-day world in a SWAT police unit who are called to defuse hostile and confronting situations. Though the game is in the early beta access right now, it seems quite stable that’s appreciated. However, some players are facing the Ready or Not Voice Chat / Push to Chat Not Working issue on the PC during gaming....

Bloomberg has published an interesting look at audience responses to Apple’s recent in-house advertising efforts compared to ads produced by the company’s long-time agency partner TBWA Media Arts Lab. At least in the current beta seed, the iOS 10 lock screen has a bit of a loophole due to the new expanded notification system that developers and public beta users should be aware of. In short: anyone can view and reply to iMessages or text messages from the lock screen without entering the device passcode or authenticating with Touch ID. This security issue persists even while the ‘Reply With Message’ setting is disabled and applies to other apps like Twitter as well....

The Punisher star Jon Bernthal says he and Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland helped with each other’s audition tapes to land roles in their respective Marvel TV and movie projects. Bloomberg reports that Qualcomm shares have dropped after the company’s CEO hinted that its biggest customer could switch to a rival supplier for future orders. Reading between the lines, the speculation is that its biggest customer is Apple (Samsung is the only other company close to holding that title) and that a switch to Qualcomm’s rival means Apple’s is considering Intel for LTE modem chips in the iPhone 7: The reports come as Intel this week announced it’s laying off around 12,000 employees as it restructures to, according to the company, evolve “from a PC company to a company that powers the cloud and billions of smart, connected computing devices....
