The Chinese technology media site Commercial Times is claiming that Quanta will begin initial production runs of Apple Watch 2 in January, later in the month. This would match current expectations that the next-generation Apple Watch 2 will be launched about a year after the first Apple Watch, around April. A 4-inch ‘iPhone 6c’ is also on the cards for a March/April debut. Parts and components leaks for Apple Watch 2 have yet to appear in the wild, although there are also rumors that the second-generation Watch will feature a thinner overall design....

The Aspen-M, available in a private beta, is the culmination of Rigetti’s particular take on large-scale quantum computers. The firm is pursuing multi-chip quantum processors and announced plans earlier this year to offer it to customers through its Quantum Cloud Services platform. While we’re seeing AMD dominate Intel lately, several Radeon RX 5700 XT user reports are now surfacing detailing regular crashes and a black screen issue. The issue seems to be appearing at random without any specific trigger. Of course, bugs and glitches aren’t specific to the Radeon RX 5700 XT and can happen with all graphic cards out there. Every so often, a bug in iOS emerges where a certain string of text will cause your iPhone or iPad to crash. This week, another such string of text is going viral, and a fix from Apple is not yet publicly available. The string of text, which we aren’t going to share here, includes the Italian flag emoji and characters in the Sindhi language. When an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch receives a notification with this text string, things get wonky....

AgileBits has promised to beef up the security of 1Password after a Microsoft software engineer discovered that details of which websites you visit are unencrypted and indexed by Google if you use the 1PasswordAnywhere feature. Dale Myers said that he discovered this by chance after a sync problem led him to investigate the files used to store the metadata. While passwords remain secure, privacy is placed at risk and the data obtained could, says Myers, be used in a phishing attempt....

Ubisoft has finally announced a new Prince of Persia game today, but it will be a location-based virtual reality escape room. There have been two other location-based escape rooms created by Ubisoft in the past, both of which were set in the world of Assassin’s Creed. The storied Prince of Persia series has been through a few reboots and retellings since it was first acquired by Ubisoft. Ubisoft Montreal’s The Sands of Time was a fantastic game that was rightly adored after its release in 2003 and spawned its own series of sequels....

. Apple and Qualcomm were denied, according to Bloomberg, when they tried to obtain exclusive chip production rights from Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Both put forward more than $1 billion in investments so TSMC would pledge production capacity to them, but the manufacturer rebuffed the bid to keep versatile in chip yielding.
