Starting today, Apple will be moving the iCloud data of Chinese customers to a server run by GCBD, a company owned by the provincial government … Apple first announced plans for the move last year, explaining that it was necessary to comply with new laws in China. The White House announced today that President Obama is signing the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act in law allowing consumers to unlock cell phones from their carriers at the end of a contract. New Yorkers protesting the recent decision of a grand jury not to indict the NYPD officer who killed Eric Garner took their movement to Apple’s iconic glass cube on 5th Avenue earlier today. Qualcomm has released its quarterly earnings results and acknowledged the ongoing legal dispute with Apple in detail. Specifically, Qualcomm says Apple’s suppliers have “withheld ~$1 billion from their payments” over royalties for sales activity in the December quarter alone.
