When DC announced Lois Lane would be getting her own comic book series, fans expected to see a take of Lois on the job, chasing down corruption like the award winning reporter she’s always been. That may have been how the Lois Lane series started, but now she’s in an investigation that’s putting her life in jeopardy–and not even Superman can talk her out of it.

The case remains the same, following the misappropriated money intended to build Trump-esque border camps for those seeking asylum. But when her lead ended up getting riddled with bullets, and Lois escaped the attack by inches, her attackers intended to send a message. Unfortunately for them, Lois got her own message loud and clear. She was onto a BIG story, and getting closer to the truth that got her Russian colleague killed to begin with. So in our preview of Lois Lane #5, the woman sitting next to her on the flight home picked the WRONG time to suggest journalists these days just ‘make up fake news.’

The preview follows closely behind a scene in which Lois told some hard truths to her hired investigator, Renee Montoya a.k.a. The Question. Claiming that the truth is like medicine, Lois argued that giving people all the truth they claim to want will make them sick. But give it to them in smaller doses for their own sake, and they might just end up cured of their sickness (and the same goes for society). Risking her life to find out a truth most people would prefer to ignore is a thankless task. So falsehoods about ‘fake news’ may be just what Lois needs to remind her why she does what she does.

Readers can see for themselves in the preview pages from Lois Lane #5, arriving in comic book shops on November 6th, and embedded below:

The preview ends with the promise of more action involving The Question, as Renee Montoya seems to pursue her own leads into the apparent hit on Lois. Here’s hoping she knows who she’s dealing with–whether they’re professionals or not. To get those answers, fans will need to wait until the full issue arrives this Wednesday. For now, read on for the full plot synopsis below:
