Warning: Minor SPOILERS for Amazing Spider-Man #35
The events of Marvel’s 2099 event have finally arrived in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, but Peter Parker won’t have to take on the threats from the future alone. He’s got his big sister Teresa to count on to save the day (including him).
Previously in the Amazing series, Spider-Man’s sister Teresa Parker asked for help in protecting a spy whom Teresa had worked with in her own days of espionage. The sibling superheroes ended up being too late, thrusting them into a web of intrigue involving Countess Karkov, Chameleon, and even Teresa killing Silver Sable – only to discover she was a Life Model Decoy. So yes, their past adventures have been a source of stress. But now that Miguel O’Hara, the Spider-Man of Marvel’s true future in 2099 has arrived to warn Peter of a coming calamity, a partner he can trust is exactly what he needs.
Miguel has since disappeared in a burst of light, after breaking the news to Peter about the future in peril… but before a giant Doctor Doom appeared over New York, launching an army of Doombots into the city. It’s one of the rare occasions where Peter has no idea what move to make next. Which is exactly when he needs his big sister most. And in the official preview of amazing Spider-Man #35, Teresa arrives in the nick of time. Take a look:
While it’s always nice to get a reminder of how good-natured and not cut out for espionage Peter Parker really is, the return of Teresa to this 2099 crisis is a welcome surprise. Now, the question of whether Teresa stands a better chance of getting Victor Von Doom to cooperate, and start helping instead of hurting, remains to be seen. But given Teresa’s level of expertise in negotiating with villains, Peter’s confidence is well-placed. So fans should do the same until the full issue arrives. Until then, readers can find the full solicitation details and plot synopsis for the issue below:
