The Duke and Duchess have had a difficult time making a good impression in the public eye following their fairly recent marriage. The Duchess has recently opened up about how taxing the transition to motherhood had been for her with her royal title, and, generally speaking, the press has not been entirely easy on her. That said, Harry and Meghan have faced their personal struggles head-on, taking the high ground, despite their setbacks. Now, they’re embracing the Royal Family’s charitable history amid Australia’s catastrophic brushfires.
The royal couple has stepped in to help Australia. According to Us Weekly, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan announced via their Instagram on January 4 that they had donated to the Australian brushfire relief. The couple wrote that their thoughts and prayers were with those affected in Australia. Harry and Meghan also posted pictures of the damage that the fires have caused, asking people to donate as well.
Prince Harry’s older brother, Prince William, as well as his wife, Kate Middleton, also showed support for Australia. In an Instagram post from the Kensington Palace account, they explained that they were both shocked and saddened by the brushfire’s relentless damage. The joint statement also revealed that the couple is praying for those in need and that their thoughts are with the people of Australia. Many other celebrities have also reached out to help the ailing nation, including the Irwin family who runs the Australian Zoo.
