Prince Harry has arrived in Canada to begin his new life with Meghan and Archie. The royal said goodbye to his past and hello to his future as he left the UK Monday night.
All his life Prince Harry has had to live in the spotlight, constantly surrounded by the media. For the most part he adjusted well to it, until the limelight started to affect his wife, Duchess Markle. Since the death of his mother, Princess Diana, the prince has been an avid supporter of privacy and helping others. The announcement that he would step back from his royal duties made sense to many, as he’s obviously trying to protect his family from the British media after he saw the way his mother was treated.
At 9:45 pm on January 20th, Prince Harry stepped foot on Canadian soil to begin his new life as a commoner. The prince debarked from a commercial flight on to Vancouver Island to meet up with Markle and their 8-month-old son. Archie Harrison. The first steps marked the begining of a new chapter for the couple, away from the royal family. The 35-year-old royal looked relaxed as he stepped off the plane and even smiled according to E!. Prince Harry left from London and took a connecting flight from Vancouver Airport. The prince was said to have sat in the front row of the plane in a window seat. It was also reported that three bodyguards escorted him and tried to block him from sight as best as they could.
Witnesses reported that the prince looked a little tired and stayed relatively quiet throughout the journey. Evidently the prince was hardly noticed as he kept to himself. Prince Harry still had some perks when he traveled as he was the first to leave the plane and had a car waiting for him on the tarmac. The car was said to have driven him directly to his home in Victoria where Meghan and his son were anxiously waiting.
Per the new agreement with the Queen that will start in spring 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will lose their His or Her Highness titles and be expected to repay the money that they spent in renovations for their Frogmore Cottage estate. Prince Harry spent his last night with his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton for the UK-Africa Investment Summit in what was expected to be the prince’s last royal engagement. While many have their opinion regarding the choices made by the couple, it would seem that Prince Harry made the correct decision for his family, and as subjects, we must come to understand and respect them as he was only doing what he felt was right.
