Those that were familiar with Jared Knabenbauer (better known as ProJared) and Heidi O’Ferrall prior to the past few days likely only knew them as a gaming YouTuber and cosplayer, respectively, but the internet at large is getting to know them for their very messy Twitter breakup. The married couple have apparently been separated and are now divorcing over Knabenbauer’s adultery, and O’Ferrall laid out all of his alleged manipulative and abusive behaviors online for the world to see.
Trying to get ahead of the situation that would inevitably and justly favor O’Ferrall as a victim, Knabenbauer posted a write-up of moderate length in a tweet on May 8, announcing that he and O’Ferrall would be divorcing without detailing any reasons beyond the claim that the decision to divorce “was reached after extensive individual therapy and couples therapy together.” Apparently aware of the firestorm that would reasonably engulf him once O’Ferrall got to tell her side of the story, Knabenbauer tellingly added, “It is my hope that we both exit this marriage with style and grace.”
Jared Knabenbauer has since maintained his “graceful” silence on the matter, but Heidi O’Ferrall has done no such thing. In an understandably long and emotional Twitter thread, O’Ferrall exhaustively documented the long pattern of dishonest and calculating behavior on Knabenbauer’s part that single-handedly killed their marriage. Explaining that her husband was having an extramarital affair with another gaming YouTuber, soliciting sexually explicit photos from his fans, and lying to and gaslighting her along every step of the way to finding out the truth, O’Ferrall also revealed that Knabenbauer’s vague statement was “nothing more than an attempt to silence [her]” that he only issued when she “gave him the opportunity to make a statement about his infidelity before [she] did.”
Relating that she was “honestly shocked that he posted [his tweet] today because it’s so blatantly selfish” and that Knapenbauer apparently even attempted to have her “sign an NDA regarding his behavior,” O’Ferrall described his worsening actions and infidelity towards her in terms of abuse when bluntly stating:
Having confirmed that she’s currently “physically safe” and “in therapy” and that she has been “for a long time,” O’Ferrall came to the mild defense of Knabenbauer when saying that he has emotional issues that she doesn’t “fully understand” and that she can “still empathize with him.” Furthermore, she explained (while also throwing the most dismissive bit of Knapenbauer’s announcement back at him with subtle savagery) that she came forward with her side of things to set the record straight, stating:
“He told his friends a version of events that omits his infidelity and portrays me as an aggressive and unreasonable person. As though I’m randomly angry and upset all the time, for no reason at all. It’s because he’s abusing me.”
O’Ferrall and her story are obviously surging online, but things don’t look too great for Knapenbauer at the moment as his YouTube channel’s lost nearly 200,000 subscribers since his dirty laundry was thoroughly aired out for him. It’s almost as if Knapenbauer should have long ago considered that his misbehavior could one day finally catch up with him.
“That said, I can only speak for myself. Draw your own conclusions, sure, and feel your feelings. Your response is valid too. My point here is really just that I am not trying to incite hate towards Jared. I don’t hate him. I would prefer to see him get help and heal.”
