The Queer Eye season 3 trailer has arrived, showcasing the Fab Five’s return to Netflix. The Emmy-winning series has been changing lives, altering mindsets and spreading joy since its return to television screens back in 2018. Thanks to filming the second season in quick succession to the first, the highly successful series is now getting set to embark upon its third season in just over a single year.
Originating in 2003 and running until 2007, Bravo’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy established the now familiar format that the current rebooted series continues to follow. Known collectively as the “Fab Five”, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk and Jonathan Van Ness travel to meet various people who are facing particularly difficult challenges in their lives. Through makeovers, home improvements and often a wide variety of esteem building exercises or tasks, the Fab Five work to bring out the best in those they meet, frequently resulting in emotional and heartwarming television.
As Queer Eye has built up a particularly large fanbase since being rebooted on Netflix, the arrival of a new season is exciting news for many. Netflix has kicked things off with a brand new trailer, which can be seen below. Just two minutes long, the fresh glimpse at season 3 wastes no time in showcasing the series’ highly emotional subject matter, which exudes the familiar warmth that Queer Eye and the Fab Five have become known for.
In addition to a brand new season, Queer Eye fans were delighted to recently learn that a mini-season will follow in the wake of season three. The short and sweet four-episode run of Queer Eye: We’re in Japan! will see the Fab Five leave America for the first time and travel to Japan, where they’ll apply their successful formula to a handful of Japanese guests. An official release date for that series is yet to be announced, but it’ll air on Netflix just as past seasons of Queer Eye have. Season three of Queer Eye will also see a change of location, though not global in scale. Having filmed the first two seasons in Georgia, the third season is shot entirely in Kentucky.
At a time when the world all too often seems to be going insane, it’s strange to think that a television series could be such a striking voice of sanity. Yet that’s exactly what Queer Eye feels like. Its formula works and continues to succeed not just because of its personable, likeable cast, but because it dares to wear its heart on its sleeve with zero apologies. Audiences and critics are clearly appreciative of this, as well as the genuine warmth the series offers in response to all the madness out there. Three seasons in barely over a year says a lot about the demand for positivity and unity, and thankfully, Queer Eye is more than willing to continue providing it.
