Ubisoft has fans upset as the new Season Pass for Rainbow Six Siege only includes six new operators and does not give players 600 R6 credits. Each new year of Rainbow Six Siege typically adds 8 new operators compared to this year’s six. The Season Pass also typically gives players 600 credits that can be spent however they see fit.

Rainbow Six Siege currently has 52 different operators that players can pick from. After five years of adding new operators to the game it has gotten slightly complicated to decide which one to pick. The characters are split into two separate groups: Attacker and Defender. Each specific operator gives players access to all kinds of different abilities like breaching walls, EMP grenades, or signal jammers. The amount of options and playstyles can wind up being incredibly diverse and success mostly comes down to whether teams picked the correct combination of operators.

Reddit user u/ignotusartifex posted a screenshot from what is allegedly information regarding the new season pass for Rainbow Six Siege. Users were very angry to realize that there would be two fewer operators to play with this year. Most were even angrier to note that they would not receive their usual credits. Several users note that with the new 1,200 credit Battle Pass that Ubisoft has introduced, that it seems like the company is trying to ensure players do not get any discounts on either pass. Ultimately players are upset that they will most likely have to spend the same amount of money as usual for this pass, but receive less content.

Ubisoft actually responded to this leak as well on Reddit and seemed to confirm it. The company notes that it is pushing resources towards improving the quality of the game and adding in new features. Apparently the lack of content in the pass is a reflection of the company moving away from operators and adding new content that benefits all players. Ubisoft goes on to say that the company will release more information regarding this Season Pass in February.

Monetization always seems to be a tricky subject with gamers. Most fans really don’t have much of a problem with continuing to pay for their favorite video games, but those prices and the content provided must be fair. If companies suddenly decrease the amount of content provided, fans will obviously become upset. Rainbow Six Siege has managed to keep a sizable paying fan base for five years, which is very impressive. If Ubisoft wants to keep those paying customers though, it needs to reassure them very soon that the Season Pass will still be worth their money.
